area of Edinburgh.
All the locations were unknown when I added these photos to the web

Section 3.
Lantern
Slides
Here is a collection of lantern slides. All come from the same
source. These slides once
belonged to Edinburgh Public Health Dept. They are 3.25in x 3.25in (black + white positives)
John Stirling, who rescued these slides from being dumped in 1974
points out that they are almost all are of Edinburgh and none are of
Leith, which suggests that they were likely to have been taken some time
before the amalgamation of Edinburgh and Leith in 1920.
Most of the slides are untitled. A few have small 'AH Baird' labels
on them.
In his advertisements, AH Baird described himself as:

- 1920-23: Enlarger
- 1926-28: Developer and Printer

Several suggestions have been made for which island is
in the background - The Bass Rock, Craigleith Island, Fidra, and locations
in the West of Scotland
No conclusion has been reached yet reached yet, but the
most likely location suggested so far seems to be Belhaven Bay at Dunbar, with the Bass
Rock in the background.
