Distillery interested me. (I used to work in that
milieu.) It seems that, in
common with many others, after the licensing of distilleries in 1823, it
had bankruptcy problems and finally closed in 1843.
Further research has shown
that the owner had no (publicised) background in distilling and this may
have contributed to the distillery's failure.
It was certainly in a good
malt whisky area but the list of closed distilleries is infinitely longer
than those still extant.
