17th Lancers

Piershill Barracks were built in 1794 and were home to various regiments including the 6th Inniskillin Dragoon Guards and the 17th Lancers. The barracks were demolished in 1938.1

The 17th Lancers returned to Britain in 1902 following the Boer War and were posted to Piershill Barracks, Edinburgh for three years, then to Glasgow.

The 17th Lancers lost their separate identity and joined with the 21st Lancers to become the 17th/21st Lancers in 1922.2
