North Bridge and Calton Hill  -  from the top of The Mound

1.  This view from the Bank of Scotland's Head Office

 at the top of the Mound, looks north-east towards Calton Hill.

2.  The Nelson Monument appears to be under construction on Calton Hill.

 3.  In the upper centre of the picture, below the Nelson Monument, are:

-   Edinburgh Jail. and

-   The Royal High School in Regent Road (partially hidden behind the jail)

4.  The valley in the foreground, beneath the attractive spans of the old North Bridge, is later to become the site of Edinburgh Waverley  railway station.
