Ingle Series

Alex Inglis, photographers at Rock House, Edinburgh produced cards in the Ingle Series.  His son, Francis Caird Inglis, also produced postcards of Edinburgh, though I have only seen two of these in the Ingle Series.  Both have the 'AI monogram on the front.

Edinburgh Castle was a popular subject for both photographers, Alex A Inglis and Francis Caird Inglis.

These cards have an 'Ingle Series logo with the City of Edinburgh Coat of Arms on the back.  Alex Inglis' cards also have an 'AI' monogram on the front. Some of his cards were produced in monochrome and colour, the same number being given to both varieties.

On the back of some of these cards there is a brief account of the history of the subject of the card,  e.g. Edinburgh Castle.

Inglis, Francis Caird  Rock House

Edinburgh Castle was a popular subject for both Alex A Inglis and his son, Francis Caird Inglis.  Here are the Edinburgh cards that I have found by Francis Caird Inglis.

All bear the legend: 'Francis Caird Inglis, Photogrpaher to His Majesty in Edinburgh', and have a brief description of the subject, on the back of the card.

Many have numbers in the stamp box.  The numbers I have seen range from 1 to 36, but some numbers are duplicated for 'Castle' and 'other' views.
