Thank you to Ian Foster, now living in Perth, Western Australia, for his recollections of the shops in West Granton Road, in the photograph above.

These shops are just inside the southern boundary of the area coloured green on the aerial view below, now being developed as Edinburgh Waterfront.  West Granton Road runs along the bottom of the area coloured green.

Ian wrote;

Shops in West Granton Road

Was interested in you photos of a row of shops in west Granton.

I lived just up Crewe Road North.

The first shop was Delecatos, ice cream, papers, etc.

-  then Grahams, the grocer.

-  then Divernos, another Italian ice cream parlour that had a juke box.
