Restoration

The photograph above was taken on 7 August 2002 from The Mound.  It shows the area between the Royal Scottish Academy (left) and the National Gallery of Scotland (right) beginning to be excavated to create an underground link between the two galleries.

In the background is the Scott Monument (centre left) and the tower of the Balmoral Hotel (formerly the North British Hotel (centre right).  The time on the clock is 1.25pm (though this cannot be seen at the resolution used to display the image above.)
