Methodist Chapel

The Methodist Chapel was erected in Nicolson Square in 1814.

The book Modern Athens describes it as being about 80 feet in length by 60 feet wide, giving a general effect that is picturesque and pleasing, set amongst the shrubberies of the adjacent gardens, the square with its plantations, enclosure, &c.

[Modern Athens]

Nicolson Square lies about 3/4 mile to the south of the East End of Princes Street.  It is  beside the road that leads into Edinburgh from the south, past Edinburgh University and across South Bridge and North Bridge to Princes Street.
