Edinburgh Castle

This view looks from beside Ramsay Gardens, near the top of The Mound, towards Edinburgh Castle.

In the foreground are a number of figures, including two soldiers and two Newhaven Fishwives.

In the background at the right of the picture is St Cuthbert's Church.

Edinburgh Castle stands 300 ft above sea-level, and is accessible only from the west side, across the Castle Esplanade where the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is now held every August.
