Lothian Road Station

The Caledonian Railway intended their Lothian Road station to be 386 ft long and Italian in style.  Building work began but was never completed.

The resulting 'temporary' station  was close to the junction of Lothian Road and the Western Approach Road.  It opened in 1848 and continued to operate until the Caledonian Railway's Princes Street Station was opened in 1870.
