Thank you to Richard Jackson, Edinburgh, for telling me about a painting of a view in Edinburgh by Arthur Elwell Moffat, sold at Lyon & Turnbull's auction in Edinburgh.  The painting is a watercolour titled 'Springtime Corstorphine'.     Acknowledgement:  Richard Jackson, Edinburgh: September 13 + 14, 2009.

He became a member of Edinburgh Photographic Society in 1880-81, giving his address as The Avenue, Greenhill Gardens.

He and Frank Pelham Moffat were the two sons of John Moffat who joined the family business.  Arthur Elwell Moffat produced oil portraits based on his father’s photographs

Arthur Elwell Moffat provided musical entertainment with his 'Cello Solo and as part of a Trio during the 3rd EPS Dinner in November 1903
