Council
announced in 1881:
"We have
decided to revive the Outdoor Meetings which were so successful
some years ago."
The outing to
Inverkeithing took place on 16 May 1891. BJP
reported:
"The first of
the Saturday afternoon half holiday rambles came off on the
above day, having been delayed from that first arranged in
consequence, among other things, of the backward state of the
weather.
On Saturday,
unfortunately, there was a recurrence of severe wintry weather,
severe cold - in fact it was altogether a boisterous, blowy day
with occasional bright intervals of sunshine between slight
showers of snow and hail. Despite
this …(there were about 30 members on the outing)….
The President
an Council, with the object of encouraging these trips, and
reviving what used to be a notable feature of the Society - viz.
outdoor trips and work - desire it to be known that they have
resolved to offer several silver medals for the best examples of
work taken by members during these rambles."
