EPS Outing

Arniston - 1884

On 10 July 1884, the EPS Annual Picnic (or Pic-Nic as it was described) was held in the grounds of Arnistion House.

The events of the day are reported in the EPS Transactions:

"Dinner was served at 2pm, accompanied by a small string band, followed by toasts:

-  Prosperity to the Society and the Health of the President

-  The Council and Office Bearers

-  The Committee for the Pic-nic

-  Health of Mr Dundas

-  The Ladies"

Mr Dundas was the Host for the day.  Mr Tunny proposed his health.  Mr Dundas said that he had studied photography thirty years earlier under Mr Tunny.

Here are the results of the sports that were held (with the prizes and names of who donated them.)  Several of the prominent professional photographers appear amongst the names.
