Trojan Vans

parked in front of Fettes College

The one ton Trojan van was popular in the 1950s, often with advertising slogans carried on their sides.  These examples carry the City of Edinburgh Coat of Arms.

The photograph above was probably taken around the 1950s, along with a photograph of the Corporation's Morris Minors, at the same location.

Today it's the Dinky Toy models of the old Trojan vans that are likely to be of more interest to collectors, and possibly worth more than the full size vans.

Fettes College, close to Inverleith Park, about a mile to the north of the centre of Edinburgh, makes an elegant backdrop to this photograph
