Lacock Abbey

Here is a photograph of Lacock Abbey, the home of the Talbot family, taken by W H F Talbot in 1844. 

The photograph appeared in Pencil of Nature, a book published by Talbot in 1844 to illustrated with 24 salt prints to the potential of photography.  About 200 copies of this book were produced, with the salt prints tipped in to each by hand.
