Stromeferry

Stromeferry lies on the shore of Loch Carron, 10 miles from the railway terminus at Kyle of Lochalsh.  It was a busy until the ferry to Wester Ross closed.

The station is at the bottom of a long and winding hill beside the old jetty for the ferry.  There was a large hotel close to the station but this was destroyed in a fire in the 1990s.

Here, lobster pots are stacked beside the station platform.  The scene was deserted apart from a few hens wandering around the road, and lots of midges in the air.

There are four trains a day in each direction on this line, two on Sundays.
