Princes Street

Suffragette's March

This view, taken by J Patrick on 9 October 1909 shows a large crowd on both sides of Princes Street watching the Suffragette's procession pass by.  (Suffragettes demanded the vote for women in Britain.)

The photograph has J Patrick, written on the negative (visible in the lower left corner of the print) but was it taken by the photographer John Patrick (1831-1923) or, more likely,- by his son James Patrice (1863 - ?) as father would have been aged about 78 in 1909.
