"This picture shows my father and my grandfather, Sir William Price, with a baby who I have to presume is me  -  in which case the picture would have been taken in 1936.

If the baby is my brother, the picture would have been taken in 1931 but, because of the garden's somewhat 'summery look' and the sun-shade over the window in the background, I doubt if it was Mervyn, my brother, as he was born in December 1930.

As the baby is clearly only a few weeks old, I would guess that it is me as I was born in April.  So it seems likely that it was a summer photo of me taken in my grandfather's garden in Hampstead."

"Probably more interesting is the reverse which shows that Jerome would print photos on post card stock even if the picture was not to be used for that purpose. As you'll see from the reverse of the photo, the picture has been printed across two post card frames, and therefore could not have been sent through the post.

So I would guess that the photo was just a family 'snap' but that someone (Col Gale?) had ordered it to be printed on heavy stock than would normally be used for routine developing and printing.

I have a number of 'snaps' developed and printed by Jerome with the company stamp on the back, and these are printed on ordinary 'customer' stock."

Jerome Address

"The other interesting point is that the reverse tells us that it was processed at Jerome's branch at 416 Holloway Road, London N7, so this would appear to be another definitive address for a branch of the company.

Other Jerome postcards merely say either

-  JEROME LTD., London and Provinces

or

- JEROME. Branches Everywhere."
