1. Ann Passeri who sent me the photograph above is hoping to find the name of the person in this photo, or
at least to be able to find some information about the uniform.
2. The White Star Line labels on the back of the cabinet print
are interesting. Do these imply that Brown, Barnes & Bell had some
arrangement to take photographs on board White Star Line cruise ships, and
if so over what period?

Labels on the Photo
The labels do not really evidence any tie up with the shipping line. The
subject is apparently a sailor from the ship (I cannot identify the
uniform but does the cap badge match the shipping line emblem? )
I suspect that the labels are to do with other passenger matters (one says
attach to a post card and etc - probably asking the customer to send
something back re the proposed cruise).
The (sticky) labels were probably just readily available to the uniformed
sitter and were used to mount the photo to a board for framing (the
picture looks as if it has been framed.)
