 Cartes de Visites

CdV FRONTS

Many of the subjects in cartes de visite that I have collected from Edinburgh photographers are ladies.  However, R Brown appears to have had a broader range of subjects: ladies, men, children and groups.

John Russell, great-great grandson of Richard Stuart Brown tells me:

"In No 12 there is a possibility that the subject may be a very young 'Granny Trotter'  - there is something very familiar about the face!"

'Granny Trotter' was Mary Stuart Brown, a daughters of Richard Stuart Brown.

CdV BACKS

Amongst the many styles of back that I have seen used for R Brown's cartes de visite, the style in 1, 2 and 3 above seems by far the most common.  All that I have seen of this style have the name TH Douglas printed in the bottom corner then scored out.
