Thank you to Brien Towler for allowing me to reproduce some of the photographs that he took in 1962, at South Queensferry and in Edinburgh, while based at HMS Lochinvar at Port Edgar, South Queensferry.

The photograph above is of  ABUW Brien Towler (RAN) alongside his ship HMAS SNIPE which was taking on supplies and receiving minesweeping gear at HMS LOCHINVAR .

SNIPE was one of 6 Ton Class minesweepers bought by the Australian Govt. in 1962, the year that this photo was taken.  On the left are more minesweepers, including M 1187.

Here are other views that Brien sent to me, showing ships that were bought by the Australian Govt. in 1962.  They remained at HMS Lochinvar, Port Edgar, in the Firth of Forth until October 1962, when they departed to Australia.
