copy of the photograph above (8 x 6¼ ins) – was sold at Christie’s Auction in
South Kensington in 1989. It had an estimated sale price of £700-£900, but
sold for £3,200 + commission.
A Horatio Ross album, including 60
of his photos of Scottish landscapes, hunting lodges, trophies and views
of Edinburgh, taken during the 1850s, was sold at Sotheby's for
£144,000, six times more than expected, in the late 1990s to an
anonymous private buyer.
