EPS Exhibition
Edinburgh Photographic Society held Annual
Photographic Exhibitions in the 19th Century. Two of these were on
a particularly grand scale - in 1876 and 1890.
What else was there to do in Edinburgh in 1876?
Here are a few of the rival attractions, taken from advertisements in the
local newspaper - the first three adverts on 5 December 1876,
the fourth on 6 December 1876: |

"Beautiful
Railway Bridge of the Silv'ry Tay!
Alas! I am very sorry to say

On the last Sabbath day of 1879,
Which will be remember'd for a very
long time"
