This photo was taken in the early-1960s in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.  The buildings in the background are at the east end of George Street.  They are:

LEFT:  Caledonian Insurance's Head Office.  Following a takeover, this became Guardian Royal Exchange's office.

RIGHT: Standard Life Assurance Company Head Office, later to become the Head Office of Standard Life Investments when SLAC moved its HO to Lothian Road.
