1961 This photo was taken on Kodachrome film by amateur photographer, Charles W Cushman (1896-1972) from the USA during his visit to Edinburgh in 1961. The photo above is one of two that were taken on June 17, 1961, looking to the east along Main Street, Newhaven. Here is the other: Victoria Primary School, Newhaven is in the background of the small thumbnail image above. The sign on the wall behind the 'school' road sign in this photo reads 'Peacock Hotel'. The Peacock Hotel was a few yards to the left, down the narrow street. |
