Newhaven from the Pier

Newhaven Harbour

Here is an attractive view of the small harbour at Newhaven.

The harbour still has a small lighthouse (without a light, but now floodlit), and is situated beside Newhaven  Fishmarket, Loch Fyne restaurant and Newhaven Heritage Museum, which unfortunately closed in 2006.

A church in the main street (possibly the one on the right in this engraving) has been converted into an indoor rock-climbing centre.

Boatie Row Tavern

This Historic Scotland 'British Listed Buildings' page has information about Boatie Row Tavern.  It was apparently on the corner of Pier Place and Wester Close, near to the SE corner of Newhaven Harbour.

Pier Place is the road facing onto the harbour in this engraving (i.e. the engraving at the top of the page that you are reading now):

I believe that Boatie Row Tavern was the building with the gable that is in line with the sterns of the boats in this engraving.
