Steam-hauled Excursion ©

This photograph is of the second of these two excursions crossing the Forth Rail Bridge at  5pm on Sunday May 18, 2008.

Here Loco No 61994 'The Great Marquess' with its 9 coaches crosses the Forth Bridge, heading north to Fife.  The pier in the foreground is Hawes Pier where the car ferries sailed from to North Queensferry, until the Forth Road Bridge opened in 1964.

The van parked on Hawes Pier belongs to Forth Tours, the company that operates Sightseeing Tours, Dance Cruises, Sunset Cruises and trips to the island of Inchkeith in their boat 'Forth Belle'.

These were the first steam-hauled excursions for several years to be allowed to cross the Forth Bridge. [Metro:  May 19, 2008].
