North Merchiston Boys' Club

The Club

Thank you to John Clark for allowing me to reproduce this photograph of Merchiston Boys' Club.

John took this photo in the 1980s.  The club was at the west end of Watson Crescent, next to Harrison Park.

"The picture above is of North Merchiston Boys (later Boys' and Girls') Club.

This was my whole life. I lived and breathed Merkie Club.  I was there almost every night of my life, and loved every minute of these times.

Between North Merchiston Primary School and North Merchiston Boys' Club and my National Service in the Army, I think I learned so many valuable lessons in growing up to be a man.  I have been so blessed.

If anyone from Merkie School or Merkie club wants to be in touch with me, I would love to hear from you,"

"It was of great interest to see the photo of North Merchiston Boys Club.

I lived around the corner at 8 Ritchie Place and was a member of the club for many a year, as was my brother Greg.

I left in 1957 to join the RN.  I went out for a while with the caretaker's daughter, Ester Young.  Her dad was Tony.  He played the accordion.

Good memories!"
