This view looks to the NE from Edinburgh Castle.

From left to right across the picture are:

-  Register House (low building on extreme left)

-  Balmoral Hotel (with clock tower)

-  Observatory (on Calton Hill)

-  National Monument (on Calton Hill)

-  Nelson Monument (on Calton Hill)

-  Royal High School (dark, in front of Calton Hill)

-  Governor's House for Calton Jail (jail now gone, in front of Royal High School)

-  New St Andrew House (Government buildings built in 1930s on site of the old jail)

In the bottom-right corner of the picture are:

-  Waverley Bridge (with multi-coloured Airport and Tour Buses waiting on the bridge).

-  The roof of Waverley Station (behind Waverley Bridge)

-  North Bridge (further to the east, behind the roof of Waverley Station).).
