Jacob's Ladder is a staircase leading from the foot of New Street, up the hill to the north to Regent Road that runs along the foot of Calton Hill past the former Royal High School. Plans were announced to replace this by a much larger staircase up the hill as part of the Caltongate development, but the developers have now, in January 2006 shelved plans for a larger staircase. |
