This view looks to the north towards Morningside and Edinburgh. The
photo was taken from a point Comiston Road (the Edinburgh Penicuik road)
about four miles south of Edinburgh. The photograph was probably taken
in the early 1900s. The postcard was posted in 1907.
The road layout is still recognisable today, but is area is now well
within the suburbs of Edinburgh.
The suburbs of Comiston, Oxgangs and Greenbank have now been built to the
west (left of picture) The Braid Hills are to the east (right of
picture) and Morningside to the north (straight ahead on the picture). |
