guess is that my great-grandparents' daughter, Mary Pringle, who was
living in New Jersey, had the coloured portrait done in the US some time
in the 1930s from the original Jerome photo.

also a hand-coloured photo of my great-grandfather who died in 1925,
were in very expensive, for the time, gilt frames ($29.75 each) with a
Chicago frame-maker's name on them - 'Deluxe Art Studio, 100 South
Jefferson Street, Chicago'."
