Carlton Hotel stands on the east side of North Bridge, close to the Royal Mile, and across the road from the Scotsman Hotel, formerly the offices of 'The Scotsman' newspaper.

The name of the manager on this card may be helpful in dating the card

The back of the Postcard

This postcard was posted from Edinburgh to Miss Ursula Codd, living in London, on October 1, 1913.

The message on the back reads:

"I will buy some picture cards tomorrow with views of Edinburgh. I suppose my Baby is home again now taking care of her Mummy and little brother.

On Monday Daddy is going to Dundee where the marmalade is made."
