Fettes College

Fettes College was founded in 1870 and completed in 1873.  It was designed by architect David Brice and built with a bequest from Sir William Fettes.

The school is set in 100-acre grounds, to the north-west of Inverleith Park in North Edinburgh.

The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, attended Fettes College.

J K Rawlins' description of 'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry' in the Harry Potter stories  is believed to be based partly on the exterior of Fettes College.

The photograph above was taken on Doors Open Day, 24 September 2005.
