Bruce Peebles Transformer Factory

Fire  -  April 1999

Thank you to John Dickson for allowing me to reproduce this photo of the fire at East Pilton that destroyed the Bruce Peebles transformer factory at East Pilton on April 12, 1999.

The factory never re-opened at East Pilton.  The company moved to new premises at Leith Docks and the land at East Pilton was redeveloped as housing.

"That's a cracking photo from John of the Bruce Peebles factory fire.  You can see that some of the panels of the transformer shop have already melted due to the heat.

That photo must have been taken not long after the fire had broken out, as I believe that the local residents were later advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors shut."
