These buildings , a
short distance below New Street on the northern side of the Royal
Mile are five storeys high. they were erected by the
Incorporation of Cordiners (shoe makers) in 1677.
The door here is the
entrance to No 185.

proposed Caltongate development for Waverley Valley that includes
demolishing some 1930 tenements in the Royal Mile between Bible
Land and New Street.
