Thank you to Peter Grootes, Best, The Netherlands
for allowing me to reproduce photos from his book:
'Photograph from View Album of Edinburgh
and District'
published by
Patrick Thomson, Cash Drapery Store, North Bridge, Edinburgh, around the
1890s.
Here are a few more
photos from the same book.
The View
This view looks to the SE towards the
Scott
Monument in Princes Street. The photo appears to have
been taken from an upper floor on one of the buildings on the north side
of Princes Street.
To the left of the Scott Monument in this photo
are the buildings on the corner of Princes Street and North Bridge that
were demolished to allow the North British Railway Hotel to be built.
The hotel opened in 1902.
