35F Squadron

"I'm currently researching the history of the Air Training Corps in Edinburgh. I'm led to believe that 35F Squadron was the original Squadron in Edinburgh.

Although I have no evidence to back it up, I believe that 35F Squadron of the ATC paraded in the building that is currently used by the RAuxAF in Learmonth Terrace. Sadly, I have no more information than that.

Their formation date would have likely been in 1938 as part of the Air Defence Cadet Corps (ADCC) and then becoming an ATC Squadron in 1941. Sadly, I cannot say when they were disbanded, but it was sometime before 1955, as I have documents from this period and there is no mention of them.

Does anyone has any information on the formation of the Corps and the present Edinburgh and South Scotland Wing? could they please contact me."

35F Squadron

"I was a member of 35F Squadron in 1941 and 1942.  I was also a drummer in the Squadron Pipe Band.

As your query is dated March 2011, perhaps you could email me to let me know if you want any further information – you may already have enough!

I’m just on 86 – and still flying"

I have emailed John to let him know that I would certainly like to hear more from him.  I've also passed on his message to Ewan A Walker (above).
