Their advert claims that the company had been established in 1936.

They were listed in the Edinburgh Trade Directories from 1939 until 1976, at various addresses in Cockburn Street.

In 1947, Photo Illustrations (Scotland) became Photo Illustrations (Scotland) Ltd.
