Thank you to
Ernst Massen
for telling me about a daguerreotype by Moffat that he is offering for
sale on the German eBay web site.
The photo
is in a leather case with the inscription on the outside:
60 PRINCES STREET
MOFFAT
EDINBURGH
60 Princes Street was
Moffat's studio address from 1858 to 1860. The photograph was offered
for sale over 7 days ending 23 October 2005 with a reserve price of Euro
79. With three days to go there had been no bids. |

Thank you also to James Irvine Robertson, Aberfeldy, Perthshire,
Scotland, for telling me about
another Moffat Daguerreotype. James writes:
|
"I have a daguerreotype of a woman with
MOFFAT
19 PRINCES STREET
embossed on the red leather frame. The identity of the sitter
is suspected and she died in 1856."
