R Mason

I have seen two cartes de visite by R Mason, with the address,  3 Bristo Place on the back.  

But, I have not found any reference to a photographer named  R Mason in the Edinburgh trade directories.

Question

Was R Mason (above) the same man as Richard Mason who appeared in the 1881 census as:

Photographer:  aged 36

Born:  Alves, Stirlingshire

Lodger:  16, Chapel Street, Edinburgh
