I have just discovered that as well as the normal Jerome portrait, usually on a postcard,  Jerome also produced jigsaws from their photos.  Here is an example, shown to me by Alan Lutman.

"This jigsaw was made at a Jerome studio, based on a photograph supplied by a customer.  From the style, I guess the picture was taken in the 1920's somewhere on the Thames.  (I think the sign says boat trips to Teddington.)

My wife and I have just put the jigsaw up on eBay, along with some other vintage puzzles we have."

Question

"I have been given a couple of Jerome jigsaws.  I haven't seen any before and am interested to learn more.

-  Between which years did Jerome operate?

-  Were they prolific producers of jigsaws?

I am a jigsaw enthusiast and am always keen to collect different types, though I can't find much on the internet with regard to Jerome."

Marilyn Brindley

Thank you to Marilyn Brindley who wrote telling me about her two Jerome 100-piece wooden jigsaws from the 1930s, both of her mother:

 - one amongst the bluebells.

-  the other on a Sunday School Outing.

Both are sepia photos by Jerome, hand coloured by her great-aunt Maud.

"I have two wooden jigsaws like the one above, and am trying to find out more about them.

My Blogs

Here are 3 links to pages on my blogs where you'll be able to  read some background about the jigsaws.

Below each of these 3 links, I've added one or two images from the blog page.
- Peter Stubbs.

Perhaps somebody will read these pages then send in some more information for both of us!"

Nan and Mum

"I was sorting through my Mum's possessions as she has now gone into residential care, and I came across this photo, made into a jigsaw puzzle.  It has a Jerome name on it.

The photo is of my mother, Winifred May Holden as a young girl, about 7 years old,  with her mother Winifred Rose Holden.

When I asked my mother about it, she told me that it had been taken about 1934/5 at a friend's house at Grove Ferry which is near Canterbury Kent."
