1st PSS Exhibition, Dec 1856

He exhibited a frame of portraits at the 1856 PSS Exhibition

The Aberdeen Journal gave a report of the 1st PSS Exhibition in 1856.  It may have been speaking of James Henderson when it said:

“Mr Henderson of Blackford near Edinburgh has an easy method of producing colours on the daguerreotype plate with very simple ingredients.”

“The great difficulty to overcome is, as we have said, in the permanence of the colours.  Another difficulty is in the time necessary to impress them -  and when those difficulties shall have been overcome, the Photographic Art will be within sight of that perfection which seems to be in store for it.”    [AJ:24/12/1856]

4th PSS Exhibition, Dec 1859

James Henderson exhibited small views around Ochtertyre in the 4th PSS Exhibition in 1859.

9th PSS Exhibition, Dec 1864

He exhibited 26 cartes de visite and 19 portraits in the 1864 PSS Exhibition.

2.  Was James Henderson related to William Henderson who also joined PSS in 1856?
