William Cowan appears to have moved from Glasgow to Edinburgh. 

He had  studios in:

      - Glasgow (1875-77)

      - Edinburgh (1878-79).

He gave a lecture to EPS in 1879 entitled:  - The Site of the Blackfriars Monastery
