Early History
The Photo Express business was established as photo finishers on 1
February 1961 by Andrew Swanston [Sen],.
a Member of Edinburgh Photographic Society.
The business was run with his son, Andrew Swanston, who joined Edinburgh
Photographic Society at the age of 8, and went on to become a member of the
Night Shift group at EPS with Martin Siller and others.
Andrew speaks highly of the photographic tuition given by
Marion Boran in classes, both at
EPS and at Technical College.
Professional Photographers
Although
Photo Express started in the photo finishing industry, they soon became, and
still are, professional photographers. They process their own work and
produce Black and White photographs for a few customers who use photography in
the course of their work.
