This view looks down Lothian Road towards Princes Street on a winters day in February 1955. It shows the improved lights and signs on tram loading islands that were installed around 1950. Previously there had low dingy box-shaped lamps. (This change in lighting be helpful in dating other photos of central Edinburgh.) Thank you to Douglas Beat, Tasmania, for this observation. |
