Holyrood Palace

This view looks down on Holyrood Palace from the slopes of Calton Hill.

The stones in the foreground are from Trinity Church in Low Calton.  It was demolished to allow the railway station at Waverley to be built.  It was planned to reconstruct Trinity Church on a different site, but the stones lay on Calton Hill for many yeas and a large number went missing.

Only part of Trinity Church was rebuilt.  In recent years, it has been used as the Edinburgh Brass Rubbing Center.  It is close to John Knox House, down one of the closes on the northern side of the Royal Mile.
