The Transactions of the Edinburgh Photographic Society reported the Popular Meeting held on 24 January 1883:

"The subjects were extremely diverse, embracing home and continental landscapes, genre subjects, portrait, animal, architectural and flower studies, and were contributed by the following gentlemen:
