the 1870s and 1880s there were Out-of-Door
Meetings and Excursion Picnics.
Annual Picnic had become well established
by the 1880s.
The Chicago Beacon of April 1886 reported:
organises frequent camera excursions and a grand annual picnic on which
occasion the whole of the photographic establishments are closed and
amateur and professional employer and employé meet together and have a
right good time.”
included sack and barrow races, three-leg race, battledore, quoits and
a walking backwards race.
1900, EPS organized Saturday Rambles, Survey
Rambles and outings of the EPS Cycle Camera
continued for many years, sometimes described as Photographic
Rambles or Wednesday
recent years there have been:
Wednesday Evening Walkabouts (weekly
during the summer, weather permitting)
Nature Group Outings (including a
Fungus Foray each Autumn)
Colour Group Outings (twice a year,
open to all EPS Members.)
