Adverts  -  Topics

Many of the adverts on the back of the 1928 map were for transport, including:

-  motor coach tours to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs

-  pleasure sailing trips on the Firth of Forth

-  cars for sale/ to hire - Hillman, Buick, Morris, Daimler, Delage, Wolesley

-  elephant rides at Edinburgh Zoo

There were also char-a-banc tours around Arthur's Seat in Queen's Park illustrating them with this photograph, by EO Catford, of a char-a-bank in Holyrood Park.  See the final advert in the box below.

Other adverts were in a style that is no longer seen, such as that for the North British & Mercantile Insurance Company (below).
